What a day. We didn't end up leaving for the beach until around 2PM, on Valentine's Day, which was dumb. It took us about 2.5 hours to make it to Venice (like 10 miles??) and there was no parking, so we ended up leaving our cars in the Venice Public Library lot. In our defence, the lot claims that it's open until sunset, but we returned to our cars around like 6PM and the security had already closed the gate. Birdie + Us sat around in the lot for an hour, waiting for the guard that wanted $75 from each car leaving, to open the gate, before one of the other 30 groups trapped in the lot decided to off road their card down the sidewalk. We ended up parallel parking into the archway in front of the library and then driving straight off the sidewalk into rush hour traffic. What a time. I hope the schemey security guard trekked all the way back after everyone had escaped.
